Dr. Rafael Blanco is an accomplished Consultant Anaesthesiologist with over 34 years of experience in the field of Anaesthesiology and Pain Medicine. According to international sources he is considered one of the top five pioneers in Regional Anaesthesia & Pain Medicine of the 21st Century.
He is the Founder and Honorary President of the London Society of Regional Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine and serves as a NICE advisor for Great Britain & Ireland in Pain Medicine. A passionate educator and thought leader, Dr.Blanco has authored four books, contributed 15 book chapters, and published 55 papers and letters in leading medical journals. His work has been recognized with five first prizes and numerous invitations to speak at international conferences, courses, and workshops in various subspecialties.
His contributions to ultrasound-guided pain interventions and transitional pain management have been widely adopted worldwide, particularly in thoracic, abdominal, breast surgery, and women’s health. A pioneer of opioid-sparing anaesthesia, Dr. Blanco has helped advance safer recovery practices with fewer complications.
