Dr Velmurugan Ramalingam has been working in Corniche Hospital as a Consultant Neonatologist since March 2017. He previously served as Consultant Neonatologist and Clinical Governance Lead at Birmingham Women’s Hospital, one of the busiest NICUs in the UK and a regional referral center for neonatal cardiology and surgery.
At Corniche Hospital, he leads the Neonatal Echocardiogram Peer Group and co-chairs the Resuscitation Committee. His special interests include point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS), functional and structural echocardiography, hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, and persistent pulmonary hypertension.
Dr. Velmurugan trained under the UK Neonatology program, earning a CCT in Neonatal Medicine. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, holds a Master’s in Child Health from the University of Leeds, and a PG Diploma in Healthcare Leadership from the Open University. He has extensive experience in caring for extremely preterm babies and those with surgical and cardiac conditions, and has published in peer-reviewed journals and presented at international conferences.
