Lactation Services at Corniche Hospital

Expert Breastfeeding Support

Lactation Services

Breastfeeding is a complex social act that encompasses behaviours, values, beliefs, and social roles. While many mothers and babies find breastfeeding natural and easy, others face initial challenges and require assistance with nursing journey. At Corniche Hospital, we understand that every journey is unique, and we are here to support it.
Our Lactation Services are thoughtfully designed to provide personalized, evidence-based guidance right from the start of pregnancy. Both mother and baby receive the help they need to make breastfeeding as easy as possible

Why Choose Corniche Hospital?

Specialized Women & Newborn Care

As a dedicated hospital for obstetrics and gynaecology, we offer a nurturing environment focused entirely on maternal and infant health. Our lactation support is integrated into your care journey throughout pregnancy, birth and postpartum recovery.

Interdisciplinary Lactation Support Committee

Our Lactation Support Committee includes obstetricians, neonatologists, occupational therapists, lactation consultants and counselors—ensuring that every aspect of breastfeeding is assisted by a multidisciplinary team.

NICU & Postnatal Breastfeeding Assistance

We promote early initiation of breastfeeding, within one hour from birth, and encourage the use of the mother’s own milk, even if the baby is looked after in high-dependency settings like the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit or Special Care Baby Unit.
Our team attends the mothers to express their own milk, to store, transport and feed breastmilk following the best practice guide for “Expressing, storing and handling Human milk in hospital, homes and childcare setting”.

Personalized Counselling & Emotional Support

Lactation is both a physical and an emotional experience. Our team provides gentle, one-on-one guidance to help focus on social, environmental, and practical factors that affect mothers’ ability to breastfeed. Our approach is rooted in the latest research and global breastfeeding standards.

Education & Supportive Interventions

Before discharge, mothers receive practical training on showing how to breastfeed, how to express breastmilk, and how to recognize and respond to the infant cues. Practical solutions to usual challenges a complex of supportive interventions are covered through follow-ups in the Lactation Clinics as well.
